Pretty Pink Posh Cutting Edge Blog Hop

window bird card

I’m participating in a fantastic blog hop hosted by Pretty Pink Posh.  There are lots of great sponsors so you know there’s prizes, too! The focus is on using dies and I’m hoping to get my hands on some of Paulina’s cute ones during Stamptember at Simon Says Stamp coming up next month.

This card is for my son who loves spending time in his treehouse and getting closer to observe the birds that nest in our trees.  This stamp set was perfect to mimic a feathered friend coming to visit our home and was a good opportunity for me to practice my coloring skills and I just had to fussycut him out.  I placed the banner across the die-cut window to look like a knothole in a tree trunk.

Card base–140# watercolor paper(Canson);  Die–Petite Scalloped Circles Large(Spellbinders Nestabilities);  Images–my happy(Studio Calico/Hero Arts);  Ink–Chestnut Roan(Colorbox Chalk) & Pool (Hero Arts Shadow Ink, mid-tone);  Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils.

Thanks for stopping by!

OWH Sketch Challenge #165

wpid-2013-03-24_18-02-15_715.jpgJust made this card a couple of days ago following a video by Gina K. posted on March 15, 2013, which I modified by double-stamping the images with dye ink, then again with Versamark ink and embossed with iridescent ‘opal’ embossing powder to add some shine. Love the effect-hard to see here.” Fun coincidence that this worked out for this challenge. Having trouble posting the link to the video, but please check this fab blog full of inspiration!

Card base-Bazill
Layering CS-DCWV, The Paper Company
Dye ink-Stampin’ Up Red Rose
Magic Dust Embossing Powder-Timeless Images

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party First Challenge-Zig Zaggin’ it

OWH Midweek Throwdown Cards with Kids

Made this simple card that our troops can use to send a special boy or girl back home birthday wishes. Found manila tags at a teachers’ supply store going out of business which was the starting point.

This variation features a banner with ends creased and popped up on foam adhesive.
